Elton John


Elton john was born in middle sex, England, and discovered his passion for music at a very early age. At only four years, he taught himself how to play a piano and soon afterwards won scholarship at the royal academy of music. He would then attend music classes over the weekends. Before long, at the age of 17, and at the dismay of his father, he drooped out of school to pursue a career in music. He then formed and started performing with a group known as Bluesology. Since then, he has emerged as one of the best song writers and singer.

In 1970, he wrote his first hit, 'Your Song' and started making a remarkable progress in music industry. Many other hit songs were released in 1970's such as 'Crocodile Rock' and 'Island Girl'. Still, the duet, 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart', he did with Kiki Dee made it on top of charts in 1976.His live shows were warmly embraced in many parts of the world because of his powerful music, his fabulous dressing, costumes, and glasses. However, after announcing that he was bisexual, he was ridiculed and his music career was affected significantly. It was only in 1979 that he managed to have a triumphant return with his album, 'A Single Man'.

In the 1980's John did well on charts and managed to produce songs such as 'Little Jeannie', and 'Empty Garden'. Life took a different turn when he started battling drugs and went into a rehab center in the 1990. However, soon after being discharged, he founded a charitable organization to help fight the AIDS epidemic. Since then, he has raised millions of dollars to support HIV/AIDS programs around the world.

In 1994, he teamed up with Tim Rice to produce one of the Lion King's' movie songs, 'Can You Feel the Love Songs', which brought him his first academy award. Soon afterwards, he was inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame. Further, in 1995, Queen Elizabeth 2 made him the commander of the order of the British Empire. He however experienced grievous moments after losing his friends, Gianni Versace and Princess Diana. Hence, he decided to rework his classic song, candle in the wind as a tribute to Princess Diana. He sold 30 millions copies of the song that year.

Recently, Elton john has released a couple of songs such as 'Captain and the Kid' and 'The Driving Board'. He also plays concert dates with artists such as Stevie Wonder and Ozzy Osbourne. Further, he supports many charities and arts organizations. Ultimately, Elton john has been and will continue to be an icon in the music industry.
