Elvis Presley was an American actor and singer who people often referred to as the 'king of the rock and roll' and regarded as the most important cultural icons of the 20th century. For someone who has been in all the fields that are popular to everybody in the world and his involvement in the military on e can understand the entire buzz in the 1950s and 1960s about Presley. He was commercially successful in a lot of genres including gospel, blues and pop, he received many awards with four Grammy awards and induction into multiple music hall of fame. He is also the best selling solo artist in the history.

Elvis is back

Elvis was honourably discharged from his military duties on March 5 earlier than expected; the train that was ferrying him from New York was mobbed all the way to Tennessee. March 20th Presley enters a studio to revitalise his new album and new song "stuck on You" which ended up being released earlier and it instantly become the number hit song. Two weeks latter Presley enters gain the same studio to release his album Elvis is Back! Which yielded "It's Now or Never" and "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" the two of his best selling singles. On his return after releasing his album, he appeared on a television interview with Sinatra with show being dubbed as welcome home Elvis. The 1960s saw Presley involved in films with the G.I Blues soundtrack being also the number one album in October that year and also he recorded his first gospel album. In 1961 he stared in the movie Blue Hawaii and he records a number of classic songs with also other two classic songs in 1962. In 1963 he meets Ann- Margret when she was co-starring in 'Viva Las Vegas'. He meets Beatles in 1965 and in 1966 he releases his second gospel album that made him receive Grammy award. He proposes to Priscilla Beaulieu in December 1966 and gets engaged on May 1, 1967 in Las Vegas

The Hollywood Adventures

In his adventure in movies he insisted on having a more serious role but after two less successful films commercially in the form of flaming star and wild in the country he changed to the formulaic as instructed by Parker. During 1960s period saw Presley have roles in twenty seven movies with his films being accompanied by soundtrack albums and soundtrack EPs. His involvement with the movies at a rate of three movies a year saw his music being affected with either the soundtracks being chosen incorrectly or the movies or the soundtrack grow worse with time.
